Reflections from LTI

So I recently just went to a Cru camp called Leadership Training Institute(LTI). It's my first time going even though I'm assigned as the group leader cause im a year 4. It was a new experience for me and also to know many new friends in NUS. The main bulk of our time was on evangelism training. I joined the intermediate track therefore the focus is on discipleship. I thought it was really useful as it talked about how to follow up with new believers and I thought this is an area that I'm lacking in skills. Like I can do evangelism but when it comes to follow up I'm unable to keep the new believer growing. So the four sessions that I attended was really useful for me. Then we also had daily devotions by pastor Penha. I thought that he was able to bring out the main message in the passage clearly and simply. Other than that, we also had a personal retreat where we were given this article on 'the death of evangelism' to read and reflect on our own. Even though it was 12 pages long, I thought that there were many things that I could learn from it. And I think God really spoke through the passage to remind me to not use evangelism skills or my eloquence as a shield to being seen as a fool to other non believers. We were meant to look like fools and therefore it is a small death of our dignity. In trying to evangelise, we are bound to face many small deaths and it is ultimately whether or not we are willing to be like the seeds to fall to the ground and die. For only when it dies, then it is able to produce much fruits. I think this camp has been a meaningful and tiring one too. I hope that as school starts next week, I'll still be committed to sharing the gospel wherever I am.
